Unvented hot water
system is a sealed system of pipework and components (no vent pipe)
that is pressurised above atmospheric pressure. The system is fed either
directly from the mains supply or if the mains pressure is low through a
booster pump.
An unvented hot water system differ form conventional
open-vented system in that no vent pipe is provided. Therefore, the
functions of the vent pipe have to be performed in other ways. It is
useful to note that unvented systems with a capacity of 15 litres or less
are not within the scope of the building regulations.
